Financial Wellbeing Conference

Last Wednesday, I attended the first Financial Wellbeing Conference. The concept is simple, to help clients use their money to be happier and wealthier.

It was great to attend this event. The concept perfectly matches what we try and do with our clients. Our focus is on helping our clients to make smart decisions with their money that helps them to live a happier and more fulfilled life.

There were lots of great speakers at the event that covered making the most of life, measuring happiness, coaching and behaviours. Chris Budd, the organiser of the event, talked about the five areas of financial wellbeing. These are…

  • A clear path to objectives;
  • Control of daily finances;
  • Ability to cope with financial shocks;
  • Financial options;
  • Clarity and security for those left behind .

It was nice to look at this list and realise that our service looks to deliver all of these.

We also heard from Miles Hilton-Barber – a blind adventurer. This was one of the most inspiring speeches I’ve sat through; and that is even after having time to reflect in the cold light of day. I could tell you about it, but I won’t do him justice! Instead, please watch his TED Talk from 2017 to understand what I mean click here.

After this we heard presentations on measuring happiness, battling anxiety, wellbeing in the workplace, medical impacts of being happier and helping to manage and measure behaviours.

I came away from the day happy that we are doing good work in this area but thinking about how we can improve further in helping our clients to live a happier life and how to (if possible) measure wellbeing and happiness and the progress made over the years working together.

If you would like to talk to us about how to manage your money to make you happier, please feel free to get in touch for a relaxed chat about whether we might be a good fit for you.
